Kosovo, You Are a Sunflower

Our mission is headed towards another Albanian region, Kosovo. Our focus remains the same: Children!

A T-shirt was dedicated to Kosovo during the first campaign taking place in Albania. The composition is unique: the Dardanian helmet proudly stands on the T-shirt. Branded with the slogan ‘I Am Dardanian’ – ‘Unë jam Dardan’, the second T-shirt was launched in a separated category on the e-shop www.annawhitejames.com, where it was sold out within a record period of two weeks.

Kosovo is not yet listed in the PayPal platform as a separate country. However, the T-shirt dedicated to Kosovo was globally purchased by hundreds of Albanians worldwide.

Here we are now … landing in Kosovo, delegating the Sunflower, the symbol of children, to our Ambassador Mrs. Anita Hajradinaj.

It was Mrs. Hajradinaj’s initiative and associates to delegate the Sunflower in Kosovo, aiming to further spread the Sunflower’s light, to help and improve the hospital conditions at the haematology-oncology pavilion of Kosovo’s state hospital. The alarming situation is in desperate need for help.

On October 19, on Mother Theresa Day of Holiness, the famous Albanian of whom we take pride, the Prime Minister Mr. Ramush Hajradinaj and the founder of the Foundation ‘You Are a Sunflower’, Ms. Albana Osmani lit the Sunflower on the grand square of Pristina. During this event, the charity campaign was officially launched in Kosovo …in Dardania!

3000 T-shirts are to be sold at a cost of 20 EUR each, with the aim to raise a fund of 60,000 EUR. The fund will be allocated for the basic needs of the haematology-oncology pavilion at Pristina Hospital.

During this campaign, we aim to step forward with full of integrity and transparency in every single detail, the same as we successfully did during the campaign in Albania. Every step will be taken in detailed transparency for every single invoice.

We are extremely happy that Albanians around the world will now have the opportunity to become part of this humanitarian campaign. Wearing Dardanian, wearing the Sunflower to transmit and promote the message of strength, life and hope to all the children of Kosovo.

At the center of the city of Pristina, nearby the sunflower flaring there by night, a sales point will be established, where people can buy the T-shirt for family members, friends and companies. All buyers may become testimonials in social media, by posting a photo through the hashtag:

#tijenjeluledielli #unejamdardan (#youareasunflower #Iamdardanian)

Let the love for our country and for each-other fill our lives, cherish one-another under the leitmotiv of humanism. ‘People who donate will always be joyful‘! Dardania, now it is your turn to shine bright like the Sun! No war, no poverty, no diseases will ever fade out your strength. Dardania, just like the Sunflower, you always stood strong and proud, always facing the sunlight.

The focus of the campaign ‘Dardania wears the Sun’ is the UCCK hospital.
The Hemato-Oncology pavilion of the Paediatric Clinic.

The goal of the project is to meet the main needs of this pavilion, i.e. the operations of the flow cytometer apparatus for the diagnosis of leukemia at children of the age group 0-18 years old.

Today, a significant number of children in Kosovo suffer from leukemia, and their fast and safe diagnosis is necessary. Given the lack of reagents for the diagnosis of leukemia in children, doctors are forced to send blood samples to Austria hospitals.
With a view to provide an accurate diagnosis within the country of Kosovo, the need for these reagents brings us all together into this awareness raising campaign, to enable the provision of such materials with the funds raised out of this campaign. The need for such materials will continue even in the future, however, through this awareness raising campaign, we will enable the provision of a significant part of these reagents, and a full awareness raising of the Albanian population, aiming to continue to make a difference. We hope that everybody joins us, in any form, to be closer to the children of Kosovo.
The following represent the 3 relevant points for the development and implementation:

  1. Operation of the Flow Cytometer apparatus for the diagnosis of leukemia in children.
  2. Provision of reagents for this apparatus.
  3. Training of the staff that will work with this apparatus.

Everyday from 09:00 to 21:00 you can find blouses at the Skanderbeg Square in Tirana. Each blouse costs 20 eu, with two symbols “Sunflower” and “Dardania”.
